A Academia Internacional das Artes e Ciências Televisivas anunciou nesta terça-feira, (28 / 7), em uma transmissão doméstica, os indicados à edição 2020 do Emmy. Apesar da pandemia, a maior premiação da TV mundial manteve seu calendário e a cerimônia deverá acontecer em formato virtual, no dia 20 de setembro. Quem lidera as indicações é a minissérie Watchmen, da HBO, que teve 26, no total.
Sem as encerradas Fleabag e Game of thrones, grandes vencedoras do ano anterior, outros destaques deste ano são Ozark, da Netflix, e Succession, da HBO, com 18 nomeações cada, além de The marvelous Mrs. Maisel, exibida pela Amazon Prime Video, que somou 20 indicações dessa vez. A comédia levou quatro prêmios na edição do ano passado. Outras séries conhecidas de mais longa data do público e anteriormente indicadas pela academia reapareceram nas categorias principais - agora ampliadas para oito concorrentes -, como Killig Eve, The handmaid’s tale e O método Kominsky. As novidades também tiveram vez. Destaque para The mandalorian, da Disney +, ambientada na Galáxia de Star wars, indicada a Melhor Série de Drama.
Nas categorias de atuação, a indicação de nomes muito conhecidos fez a alegria de muitos fãs, que acompanharam a transmissão doméstica dos anúncios, comandada por Leslie Jones. Jennifer Aniston e Steve Carell irão concorrer ao Emmy de melhor atriz e ator em Série Dramática pelos papéis em The Morning Show, principal atração do recém lançado serviço de streaming da Apple TV . Outras indicações celebradas foram estrelas mais jovens, em especial Zendaya, destaque na série Euphoria e HBO, e Ramy Youssef, de Ramy, desenvolvida pelo Hulu.
Na disputa entre emissoras e serviços de streaming, mais diverso a cada ano e para qual o Emmy tem um peso especial na luta por mais assinantes, a Netlix se destacou. Foram 160 indicações no total, contra 107 da HBO. Ainda sem detalhar exatamente como, a cerimônia de premiação do Emmy será no dia 20 de setembro, com apresentação de Jimmy Kimmel.
